This 18-minute talk was presented by the Dalai Lama at the 2014 Heart-Mind Summit organized by the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education. In this talk, he emphasizes the responsibility and necessity for humanity towards “educating the hearts of children”. He draws comparisons to other animal species, and contrasts past human history to the challenges that we face today. He states that parents and educators are in a unique position to nurture positive human qualities such as affection, and a sense of community and social responsibility. When this position is taken by one person in their everyday life, there is potential for this mentality to spread exponentially through a ripple effect.
