Developed in 2001, Mental Health First Aid Australia serves as a national not-for-profit organization focusing on mental health training and research.

Programs include face-to-face, blended, and eLearning courses on helping a person who is developing a mental health problem, or in a mental health-related crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or the crisis resolves. These courses are specifically designed for individuals working with youth, as well as a course specifically for teens. The website also provides information and resources, including guidelines informed by a panel of experts on topics ranging from child trauma to eating disorders, and strategies for providing mental health first aid in Asian countries and for aboriginal persons

Evaluations of the program consistently show that Mental Health First Aid training is associated with improved knowledge of mental health and their treatments, and confidence in providing appropriate first aid strategies.
