Recognizing that educators working directly with traumatized children and adolescents are vulnerable to the effects of trauma, this information sheet, developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) in the United States, provides educators with information on caring for their own well-being. Early identification is essential in dealing with such compassion fatigue, also known as secondary traumatic stress. This sheet provides information on compassion fatigue, how to recognize it, as well as tips for addressing such stress.
