NBA-start Anthony Bennett and his family model healthy relationships and how to rise above
By [posts-author-link] on [date]
This is a CTV W5 segment (from a Canadian media network that explores local concerns) and interview (20 min.) on the trajectory of Anthony Bennett who grew up in a single-mother immigrant family in a low income neighbourhood of Toronto, to later become an NBA star. As a narrative for students, Bennett’s story offers an exemplary model to help students consider how to respond to perceived dangers in their neighbourhood, approach stress and pressure, and remain persistent.
No educational resources were developed to accompany the video but Bennett’s story is applicable for any student and parent who may be from a minority group, a single-parent family, an immigrant family, and low socio-economic background.
