It’s a Girl’s World is a Canadian documentary directed by Lynn Glazier that showcases social bullying among a group of 10-year-old girls. The documentary reveals how social forms of bullying behavior can be used within close friendships as a means to gain social power. Parents of these girls are shown to be surprised to learn about these bullying incidents among their children, and the film documents parents’ challenges in dealing with their childrens’ bullying involvement. The documentary also demonstrates the detrimental consequences of social bullying through the case story of one 14-year old girl, who ends her life after being victimized. The documentary shows that social bullying is a serious problem that should not be a normative part of development.
