Before the Bullying, developed by Growing Sound (a division of Children’s Inc.) is a K-8 universal bullying prevention program designed specifically for use in after-school settings. The curriculum consists of 25 lessons that teach positive social skills primarily through the use of songs and music videos. The program focuses on five themes — acceptance, friendship, teamwork, empathy, and responsibility or A.F.T.E.R. Each theme is explored over five lessons, typically 30-60 minutes long.

The program can be purchased on the website, and comes in a bag which holds the resource manual, 26 songs, 6 music videos and posters. Training is optional, and trainers are available to lead professional development workshops. This after-school program can be supplemented by two further curricula, the “Classroom Activities” program, and the On Stage Performing Arts program.
