Developed by the Psychology Foundation of Canada, Kids Have Stress Too! (KHST!) is a primary prevention program that provides evidence-based tools for parents, caregivers, and educators to help children effectively manage stress across preschool, elementary (divided into grades 1-3 and 4-6), and early high school (grades 7-9) years. The program seeks to educate children and the adults in their lives on stress and to provide developmentally-appropriate and engaging activities to promote self-regulation and emotional resiliency in the classroom and beyond. Ongoing implementation evaluations find that the program increases adults’ understanding of and their sense of competence in promoting children’s stress management by teaching them practical and relevant strategies.

Training for early years professionals and parents is available as a 6-hour workshop (information available on website under the “Training” tab, separated by province). Free resources for parents, caregivers, and educators, including brochures, tips and fact sheets, and videos are available for download or order on the website.
